Lori
Steward
Lori has been a City of Phoenix
employee for more than 20 years. She worked as a
specialist in the central personnel department in both recruiting &
testing and classification
& compensation; and also as a personnel generalist in the operating
departments of
Water Services and Human Services. Lori returned to the central
personnel department
in July 2005 as the Personnel Supervisor for the Records and Placement
section. There
she supervises a staff of ten working with issues such as citywide
personnel records,
personnel transactions, FMLA, ADA
accommodations, employee placement, leave
issues, and civil service rules.
Lori has a bachelor's degree in business administration majoring
in personnel
management from the University
of Arizona. She
is only three classes away from
her master's degree in administration from Northern Arizona
University. Lori
is
one of Arizona IPMA's charter members from the chapter's formation in
1986.
Lori has experience serving on a non-profit board having served
four years as a
member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Community Action
Association
(ACAA). ACAA is a private, non-profit association providing direction,
continuity,
and coordination of efforts to address poverty issues statewide. The
association
President appointed Lori as Chair of the association’s Human Resources
Committee.
In this role, she assessed FLSA compliance, developed agency job
descriptions,
responded to employee grievances, researched and recommended
appropriate staff
compensation and pay-plan adjustments, and developed a new personnel
manual for
the agency.
